Watch Jay-Z perform 'Frontin'' and more with Pharrell at guest-heavy festival show

Fans were surprised by some huge special guests last night

Jay-Z made a surprise appearance during Pharrell‘s Something in the Water festival headline set last night. Check out footage and images below.

The N.E.R.D singer founded the Virginia Beach three-day event, which saw him take to the stage under the banner of ‘Pharrell & Friends’ last night (April 27). Ahead of the show, the likes of Travis Scott, Mac DeMarco, and SZA also performed.

Treating the audience to high-calibre special guests, Pharrell Williams brought out big names such as Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliot, Diddy, Usher and more throughout the evening.

The most exciting moment of the night came when Williams was joined by Jay-Z. Mr Carter arrived unexpectedly during a live airing of ‘Frontin”, delivering his verse on the 2003 hit single.

Pharrell and Jay later aired the latter’s track ‘La-La-La’, which was co-written by Williams. The rap megastar also gave a performance of ‘Izzo (H.O.V.A.)’, taken from his 2001 LP ‘The Blueprint’.

One fan said of the moment: “I just saw Pharrell bring out Jay-Z at Something in the Water to “Frontin”. God, I’m ready you can take me now.” Another hailed the collab as “legendary”.

Something in the Water continues today (April 28), with performances due from Anderson .Paak, Pusha T, and more.

Meanwhile, this weekend also saw Jay-Z pay tribute to Nipsey Hussle during his guest-filled ‘B-Sides 2’ performance in New York City. The show was the first to take place at the Webster Hall venue, located on East 11th Street in Manhattan, in nearly two years.
