Watch in horror as this woman gives herself a lockdown haircut with a bread knife

Now that salons and barbers are closed, some people have already resorted to cutting their own hair under lockdown… with some interesting results.

This video may just pip the rest to the post, however, as the person cutting their hair didn’t even have scissors, and instead used a bread knife.

Senior customer care specialist, Corrie Walker, 25, decided to take matters into her own hands, literally, by giving herself a haircut with the kitchen implement.

In a video that’ll either have you in stitches or hiding behind your hands, Corrie, from Hamilton, New Zealand, began hacking at her hair with the knife.

At first it was difficult to get any purchase with the knife, but after a little help from some clippers, it ended up in a somewhat trendy mullet.

Corrie said: ‘I have wanted a haircut for months. Unfortunately, just before our lockdown in New Zealand, I was due to get it cut but my hairdresser cancelled.

‘Because I was working from home and dealing with kids 24/7, I stopped caring about my hair as I wasn’t leaving the house and it got really knotted. I washed it and went to brush it out but it was taking too long, so I decided cutting it off would be easier as I wanted the hair gone anyways.

‘I found the clippers and started shaving and realised I could make a mullet, so I went with it. I was ecstatic as I was happy it was going. I just hated having long hair after growing it out over the last five years and I wanted to go back to how I used to have it.

‘I then surprised my wife, Dani, with the haircut. She laughed so hard she cried.’

Thankfully it was a cry-laugh rather than anything more sinister.

‘Everyone was in hysterics,’ continued Corrie.

‘They can’t believe I did this to myself but love that I could make them laugh. They also can’t believe how viral this has gone. Very crazy.’
