MANCHESTER CITY have tweeted a video showing how they pranked fans into believing they had dropped the Premier League trophy.
The Citizens duped supporters into thinking they had destroyed the cup ahead of the open-top bus parade on Monday.
A video went viral showing the prestigious trophy lying in pieces on the floor at the Etihad Campus after it had been dropped off a balcony.
In the clip that City revealed earlier, they showed them briefing the City stars of the prank in an attempt to shock their supporters.
They then invited fans who were celebrating their birthdays to meet Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne.
And while they posed for pictures with the players alongside the trophy, the City duo then disobey orders regarding touching the title as De Bruyne urged them to hold it.
As supporters revel being alongside their heroes, De Bruyne and Aguero drop the trophy off the balcony during a chant of ‘Championes‘.
The fans were left in shock at what they had just witnessed, not realising the trophy had been a perfect replica.
Aguero and De Bruyne looked mortified as they carried on with the prank – joking that the parade would now have to be cancelled.
However much to everyone’s relief, they quickly disappeared before coming back with the real Premier League trophy.
City became the first English side in history to win the domestic treble when they beat Watford 6-0 on Saturday to win the FA Cup.
