Delayed

While Watch Dogs Legion’s initial release date was set for March 6, 2020, Ubisoft recently announced that it’s now being pushed back and is currently slated at some point during the 2020 – 2021 fiscal year

Ubisoft billed the delay as a “decision to increase development time.”

This can only mean that Ubisoft bit off a little more than they can chew, and will need a time extension to iron out all the creases in the game and deliver a fully-finished product.

Also delayed into the next fiscal year are Rainbow Six Quarantine (the follow-up to the tactical multiplayer series) and Gods & Monsters, a new open-world role-playing game that is aimed at a younger audience.

“While each of these games already has a strong identity and high potential, we want our teams to have more development time to ensure that their respective innovations are perfectly implemented so as to deliver optimal experiences for players,” said Ubisoft president, Yves Guillemot.

While this delay is rather disheartening for the players who were eagerly-anticipating Watch Dog’s upcoming launch, it is not the end of the world.

The developers will now be able to deliver an experience that stands much closer to their initial vision for the game.

When it does officially launch, it’s expected to land on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. It’ll also be available through Ubisoft’s new Uplay+ subscription service.
