Flights should undoubtedly see plane passengers get comfortable as they enjoy their journey through the skies. However, it’s vital that flyers adhere to at least a basic level of etiquette. Some activities are not appropriate in public situations – and certainly not in a plane. A viral video shared by Instagram account passengershaming has captured one man who disgusted others when he was seen doing a vile activity on board.
The Instagram video shows the plane passenger clipping his toenails as he sits in his seat.
The footage appears to have been taken by someone sitting very close to the passenger.
Each cut of the clippers can audibly be heard in the nauseating video.
The man – whose face cannot be seen – appears to show no consideration for the other travellers around him.
Passengershaming captioned the disturbing clip: “#PROTRAVELTIP for those lacking self-awareness: PLEASE DON’T CLIP YOUR TOENAILS ON AN AIRPLANE.
“1. You are not the only person on the aircraft. 2. Said nail clippings could end up in your neighbour’s meal, beverage or eyeball. 3. The word PERSONAL in “personal grooming” is there for a reason (sic).”
The video had racked up nearly 200,000 views at the time of writing and Instagram users have shared their thoughts on the man’s actions.
“How can people be that disgusting?” one person wrote. Another added: “This is wrong in so many ways.”
A third Instagram user posted: “This truly puzzles me. Would people really think they could just clip their nails in a grocery store, a theatre, a restaurant? Why do they feel like an airplane is any different?”
Worryingly, there are numerous other examples of plane passengers showing a shocking lack of etiquette when it comes to their feet.
One disturbing Instagram photo shows the person sitting in the seat behind the person who snapped the image resting their foot on the passenger’s armrest.
But there are so many ways in which this particular foot is so unpleasant.
The foot has neither sock nor shoe on it and is completely naked as it perches on the armrest.
Furthermore, the health of the appendage is highly questionable. The toenails seem to be in a poor state and black bits can be seen on the extremity.
The big toe even appears to have a sore on its tip as well as patches of dry skin.
“Not sure if he needs the hospital or a pedicure,” one person posted on the image-sharing site.
