Watch Bryan Ferry reunite with Roxy Music at their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction


It was the band’s first performance since 2011.

Bryan Ferry reunited with some of his Roxy Music bandmates last night (March 29) for the group’s first performance in eight years as part of their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Ferry took to the stage with multi-instrumentalist Andy Mackay and guitarist Phil Manzanera and performed the songs “In Every Dream Home A Heartache”, “Out Of The Blue”, “Love Is The Drug”, “More Than This”, “Avalon” and “Editions Of You”, following their induction, which was preceded by a speech from Simon Le Bon and John Taylor of Duran Duran.

Also joined by a selection of musicians who have played with Ferry and Roxy Music over the years, those accompanying the trio included Chris Spedding, Neil Jason, and Fonzi Thornton.

Brian Eno and Paul Thompson were not present due to other commitments.

Speaking on behalf of Roxy Music, Ferry said of the band’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: “I’d like to thank everybody for this unexpected honor, especially our fans around the world, who’ve supported us through the years. I’d also like to thank all the musicians, who played such an important part in the Roxy Music story, especially Paul Thompson and Brian Eno. Eddie Jobson, who’s here with us tonight.”

Then thanking “quite a long list of bass players,” Ferry praised Graham Simpson, Rik Kenton, John Porter, John Gustafson, John Wetton, Gary Tibbs, Sal Maida, Rick Wills, Alan Spenner and Neil Jason.

Reeling off a long list of names, Ferry also thanked the band’s producers, their managers, the creators of their iconic cover art and “the master of mastering,” Bob Ludwig.

The Cure joined Roxy Music, Radiohead, Def Leppard and The Zombies as one of five British bands inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last night.

Robert Smith and co took to the stage and performed ‘Shake Dog Shake,’ ‘A Forest’, ‘Love Song’, ‘Just Like Heaven’, and ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ following their induction, which was preceded by a moving speech from Nine Inch Nails frontman, Trent Reznor.

This week (March 27) it was reported that RZA said Wu-Tang Clan should be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in the future.

Artists are eligible for inclusion 25 years after the release of their first record. The New York hip-hop group have been eligible since 2017.
