WATCH | Bathroom window standoff between hungry boomslang and birds protecting nest

Jason Arnold, from Universal Reptiles, has rescued a nest full of fledglings from a boomslang hiding in a window close by, waiting for his chance to strike. The adult birds fluttered around the nest keeping the snake at bay.

He was called out to a residence in Reservoir Hills, Durban, on Monday where he was able to successfully remove the snake.

“This snake somehow knew that there was a nest with fledglings in it, and he was going out of his way to try to get to them. Quite remarkable how he knew they were there. Isn’t nature just absolutely amazing,” Arnold wrote in a post on Facebook.

He said the birds were lucky that he had arrived there just in time, and so was the snake, considering the homeowners decided not to kill him.
