Voice of the Mirror: We all want Harry Lee to get a new heart for Christmas

The gift of life is the ultimate Christmas present and the whole land will be hoping little Harry Lee’s wish comes true.

Waiting for a heart transplant, with his own giving up despite repeated surgery, the four-year-old and his parents will be in our thoughts.

The Mirror is proud to have run a successful campaign for England’s organ donation laws to be changed to bring them in line with Wales and Scotland.

The new opt-out system will boost the number of organs grieving loved ones agree can be used to save others.

Yet we will still require donors and recipients to be matched – so as the reform is introduced, families like Harry’s will be waiting nervously for the call to say the surgeons are ready.
