Vogue Williams has responded to criticism after flying to St Barts, saying it was for work-related purposes.

The presenter is believed to have jetted out as London went into tougher tier four restrictions over the festive period, and was pictured enjoying a jog along the beach.

The 35-year-old, who is married to former Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, defended her trip in a statement posted to her Instagram Story.

She said: ‘I would like to assure my lovely Instagram family that I have not broken the government guidelines since rules and guidance came into effect last March.

‘I also had Covid tests to ensure I travelled safely and I adhered to all safety guidelines recommended.

‘It’s not ideal to be away working during these times but it had been booked in since last year.’

Current tier four rules state travelling abroad for leisure is banned – with the only exceptions being work, education and childcare.

Vogue and Spencer are parents to son Theodore and daughter Gigi, who was born in July last year.

Asked how she has found becoming a new mum again during such an uncertain time, Vogue said: ‘I had quite a tough pregnancy so it was nice to be able to sit back and relax and spend time with Theodore.

‘Obviously not much of my family have met Gigi yet, so I don’t know when they will get to meet her and that’s the only really disappointing bit.

‘But for the most part we had quite an okay lockdown. I got to spend lots of time with my son, and just relax a bit more.’
