Kevin Mitchell has led the tributes to brother Vinny after the former professional boxer’s tragic death, aged 31.

Kevin tweeted on Monday evening: “There’s not many things I can say to say how heart broken I am.

“I love you Vinny Mitchell I promise I’ll make sure your kids will know who their dad was. It kills me. See you again some day brother.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn posted: “So sorry to hear about the passing of Vinny Mitchell this evening. All our thoughts are with @KevinMitchell6 and the Mitchell family.”

Trainer David Coldwell tweeted: “So sorry to hear the terrible news about Vinny Mitchell. My thoughts are with Kevin and the rest of the family.”

Boxer Frankie Gavin said: “Devastated to hear the news of Vinny Mitchell. Top top lad too. Thoughts and condolences to his family.”

Vinny won 12 of his 13 pro fights, with his only defeat coming at the hands of John Baguley at Wembley Arena in February 2010.

He recorded two knockouts in his 12 wins and won his last fight as a pro on points against Daniel Thorpe at Upton Park in 2015 on the undercard of brother Kevin’s world title bout against Michael Katsidis.
