Vikings season 6 spoilers: Lagertha to become queen of Norway in strange finale twist?

Vikings fans simply cannot wait to see the final episodes of the History show later this year.

And the last season will surely be focussing on the battles between Bjorn (played by Alexander Ludwig) and his brother, Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen).

With just a handful of episodes left to fight it out, the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmell) have a lot to work out between them.

However Bjorn’s mother – and Ragnar’s former wife – Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) may also still find herself trying to claim some sort of power in the show.

She has previously been the queen of Kattegat, but has since stepped away.

With her son’s life on the line, could she eventually take the fight to Ivar herself and attempt to become queen of Norway?

Fans of the show certainly think so, as revealed in a poll held by Express.co.uk.

Viewers of Vikings were asked whether Lagertha would survive the final season of the show.

And out of the 1,518 people who voted in the poll, over half opted for Lagertha surviving the show.

763 viewers believe Lagertha will take the throne at the end of the show.

While 755 think she will ultimately be killed off in the final episodes that have yet to air.

Although Lagertha has been a main player in Vikings for over six years, she is certainly not safe.

This was proven back in season four when Ragnar was finally killed off by King Aelle (Ivan Kaye), leaving fans utterly shocked.

On top of this, fans have recently found a number of images online from season six which depicts a funeral of a major player in the Vikings show.

As the image includes a boat which has a shield on it, fans have become convinced the funeral is that of Lagerhta’s.

Although the generally accepted theory is that Bjorn will be dying in the show, fans think differently.

One wrote on Reddit: “I think this is Lagertha’s funeral, not Bjorn’s.

“Just because her shields are on the side of the boat. I’m so not ready.”

Another suggested: “Her death will come before episode eight of season six. Mark my words lol.”

Vikings season 6 is due to arrive on History and Amazon Prime Video later on this year.
