Vikings fans will not have long to wait for the much anticipated season six with Amazon confirming the show will have an autumn release date.
Fans have been eager to learn the fate of fan-favourite Lagertha following last season’s bloody battle for Kattegat and there have been plenty of spoilers so far.
Although no specific date is confirmed, producer Michael Hirst spoke out about what fans can expect from the show when it is finally released, revealing the the next outing will stay somewhat true to the real life story.
In conversation with Nerdist, Michael told fans the Vikings will spread further afield than ever before.
He said: “I’m writing season six now and they’re in the Silk Road.
“They’re trading with the Russians, going to China, they’re all around the Mediterranean. And it’s actually what happened.”
The series will not be cut short as the creative and executive producer revealed fans will see another 20 episodes in the next outing.
Moreover, he also teased an “unexpected revelation” would take place in the next season as the storyline begins to focus on the brothers and their travels.
The revelations come after Torvi star Georgia Hirst hinted the next outing could see her character take over as the female lead.
Fans are expecting so see the end of Lagartha (Katheryn Winnick) after a photo leaked on Reddit which showed a burning pyre being pushed into the river wearing her shield.
It seems Torvi (played by Georgia Hirst) could be the one to take lead after the star spoke out about what fans can expect next season.
Speaking in a recent interview, the Torvi star said: “I kick so much a*** in this season, it’s crazy.
“There’s a lot of changing relationships, a lot of tears, a lot of killing, a lot of new faces.”
Georgia went on to update fans on Torvi’s relationship with Ubbe (Jordan Smith) confirming the pair have made progress.
The star said: “She is with Ubbe which was established before but now we’re in a committed relationship. Torvi and Ubbe are preparing to sign up with Alfred.”
Her union with Ubbe is sure to further establish her place among the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) in the race to power.
Georgia added: “We are introduced to the black Danes, who are a very scary bunch of people.”
The actress also teased her lover Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) will find himself in a bloody and brutal battle with one of the Black Danes, leaving him close to death.
Fans can expect to see Tovi take a far more powerful position this season as she is set to take a much more physical role.
However, fans will have to wait until autumn to learn former Queen Lagertha’s fate in what is shaping up to be an action packed final outing.
Vikings season six is expected to return to History Channel and Amazon Prime Video this autumn.
