Vikings season 6 new trailer teases Lagertha’s final battle after Katheryn Winnick teases ‘one last fight’

There’s only one month to go before Vikings season 6 finally comes to our screen – and it’s going to be one big, bloody battle from start to finish, all told.

Bjorn Ironside, Ivar the Boneless and Lagertha are all seen preparing for one last, major battle.

In the new 90-second clip there’s a lot to unpack, as calls for the new leader of the Kattegat tends to put Bjorn in charge.

However, he’s not going unchallenged, with Ivar, embittered after fleeing at the end of season five, coming back fighting quite literally with an army of his own.

‘It is time to elect a new saviour. It is time for a rebirth. For a new beginning. It is time to…FIGHT,’ the trailer warns.

With Lagertha on the frontline, viewers can’t wait to see what it brings – but it could mean the end of the brave warrior, with huge armys storming the beaches and threatening her own.

Bjorn is later seen emotional on a beach, surrounded by dead comrades who have been killed off by arrows.

The clip ends with the creepy warning: ‘We’re all on our way to Valhalla’ (the Vikings version of an all-male heaven…we already know that she’s not going there.

Pictures of a Viking funeral have been leaked ahead of the series, with fans speculating whether or not it is Lags who finally meets her end.

However, other viewers were sure it was Bjorn’s funeral – but with him looking heartbroken and in mourning in other photos…it doesn’t look too good for Lagertha.

But it could mean that she’s due to pass of old age – with Katheryn telling ET Canada that the final season required a ‘lot of prosthetic work’ and will be a massive battle.

The star laughed: ‘They ended up doing latex on the eyes and neck to be able to show the progress age takes. She is a granny now!’

Katheryn continued: ‘I feel as though it’s a new chapter of her life, she is trying to now redefine who she is as someone who is a grandmother and used to be a queen, and a warrior, and now finding new peace, and redefining her last chapter.’

‘It’s going to be adventurous, it’s going to be amazing,’ Katheryn beamed: ‘I’ll tell you one thing though, she is definitely not done fighting yet.’

She added: ‘There is still one big battle left to come.’

Could this be it?

Vikings airs 4 December on Amazon Prime in the UK and History in the US.
