Vikings’ Alexander Ludwig and his co-star girlfriend have taken an alternative approach to Christmas, seeing them dress up as grannies for the occasion.

Yes, the 27-year-old looked miles away apart from his Nordic character, Bjorn Ironside, as he sported a curly grey wig and nighty.

While dancing around in the kitchen, the actor was joined by his gal Kristy Dawn Dinsmore, who was also dressed in similar attire.

‘Oooh merry Christmas you hooligans,’ he chuckled down the lens as he put on his best granny voice.

Kristy added: ‘Merry Christmas from our family to yours, oh hot damn.’

While laughing away to one another, the star of the History Channel hit got carried away and lifted up his skirt as he gasped: ‘Oh Granny’s gonna get wild tonight.’

The duo have had very little onscreen time together during the historical saga, but that hasn’t stopped Alexander for celebrating his girl’s success.

‘Introducing #Amma #vikings she may be the smallest but no doubt she’s also the fiercest #viking,’ he wrote (making reference to the 5ft3 star),’ he shared alongside a picture of Kristy.

‘It was one of the greatest gifts of my life to get to work with my woman @_kristydawndinsmore over the past two years on #vikings I love this character and everything you bring to it.’

And Kristy was just s excited as she shared a string of pictures from her time on set after she made her season six debut.

Taking to Instagram, as the much-anticipated episodes were finally released, the show’s newcomer wrote: ‘It’s happening!!!!! SEASON 6 is finally here.’

In one, she can be seen posing alongside the Bjorn star – who appeared to be dressed ready for battle.

Alexander also praised his girl and threw his support at the newbie by writing: ‘Get it gurl!!!!!’

After overthrowing his younger brother Ivar The Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen), Bjorn is introduced in the next installment of the show trying to figure out what kind of ruler he will be.

To see if he’s crowned King of Norway tune into Amazon Prime and the History Channel on Wednesdays.
