A video has emerged of Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood speaking to an Icelandic model before they met her at England’s team hotel on Sunday evening.

The Manchester City midfielder and the Manchester United forward have been axed from England’s squad after they broke coronavirus regulations to meet with two women after the 1-0 win over Iceland.

The two players have been sent home to the UK and will play no part in England’s match against Denmark on Tuesday evening.

Footage has now emerged of 20-year-old Icelandic model, Nadia Sif Lindal Gunnarsdottir, speaking with Foden and Greenwood before she travelled to England’s hotel in Reykjavik.

According to MailOnline, Nadia was accompanied by her cousin Lara Clausen, a 19-year-old law student.

In the video, Foden and Greenwood can be heard trying to plan how they can meet at England’s hotel.

In an interview with MailOnline, Nadia said: ‘We met online.

‘I was talking to Mason for a couple of days before they came to Iceland.

‘They did know that they had to quarantine, but we figured that since they were playing Iceland, they had been tested before and it would be OK.’

Lara said: ‘They were just young. We were all young and stupid and we all make mistakes. They treated us really well.

‘They were such gentlemen. Really nice guys.’

Iceland’s police force has confirmed that Foden and Greenwood have each been fined 250,000 Icelandic Krona (£1,360) for breaking the coronavirus rules.

Manchester United released a short statement on Monday in which they said they are ‘disappointed’ with Greenwood.

‘Manchester United are liaising with the Football Association and are disappointed with the actions of Mason Greenwood over this situation,’ the statement from United read.

Manchester City, meanwhile, called Foden’s actions ‘totally inappropriate’.

A statement from City read: ‘It is clear that Phil’s actions were totally inappropriate.

‘His behaviour not only directly contravenes strict guidelines related to Covid-19, but also falls well below the standard expected of a Manchester City player and England international.

‘The club supports the FA regarding this incident, and officials from the club are now in touch in relation to Phil’s enforced early return to the UK.’

England manager Gareth Southgate said on Monday that Foden and Greenwood have been ‘naive’ but have both apologised to him.

‘They have been naive and we have dealt with it appropriately,’ he said.

‘I recognise their age, but of course, the whole world is dealing with this pandemic and there is a responsibility on all ages that they do their part. We are not underestimating how important it is we keep the bubble the way we have.

‘These are two boys I don’t know particularly well at the moment so I cannot speak in great depth.

‘I’ve got to try to speak with them later in the appropriate way. They have apologised but everything has happened so quickly and we have to get to the facts.’
