Victoria Beckham revealed that her clothing business has been affected by the Chinese coronavirus outbreak as Beijing residents are ordered to stay in quarantine to prevent the disease from spreading.

The Spice Girl turned fashion designer was supported by husband David and children Romeo, 17, Cruz, 14, and Harper, eight, as she presented her A/W 20 collection at London Fashion Week on Sunday afternoon.

But while everything seemed to go off without a hitch on the catwalk, VB admitted that behind-the-scenes, the virus was sparking concern for her as both a mother and a businesswoman.

‘I think everybody’s worried by it,’ Victoria told CNBC.

‘I think it has affected business.’

On Saturday, it was reported that the number of worldwide coronavirus cases had risen to 67,000, most of which are based in China.

With residents returning to the capital of Beijing being ordered to stay in quarantine for 14 days, fashion fans from the region have been unable to travel from China to attend the recent fashion weeks in New York and London, as well as upcoming shows in Paris and Milan.

Limiting the Chinese consumer market is predicted to have a huge impact on the global economy, with the fashion industry being no exception.

‘You know, [China’s] obviously a big market for us, but I think it’s the same for everybody,’ Victoria continued, adding: ‘I think that it’s horrific.’

Fashion isn’t the only industry set to lose out without the Chinese market, with The Sunday Times reporting that the upcoming Chinese publicity tour for new James Bond flick No Time To Die has been ‘scrapped’ after 70,000 cinema screens across China were forced to close over coronavirus fears.

This is seen as a huge blow for the spy film’s launch, as the Chinese film market is the second largest in the world, with the last Bond film Spectre taking in a record breaking £36 million in its opening weekend alone.
