Vernon Kay has revealed the coronavirus lockdown has helped him ‘reconnect’ with his wife Tess Daly.

The star, who usually only spends a few hours a day at home due to work, now has the opportunity to be with his wife and two kids 24/7.

In a rare interview about his private life, Vernon explained to Humans of XS Manchester podcast: ‘The positive thing is that it’s enabled us as a family to really get to know each other even better than you would as a family.

‘When you think about it when you’re in a relationship, a working relationship, you wake up, you go to work, you get back and you have your dinner, kids doing their homework, you go to bed.’

Like everyone else, lockdown meant spending more time at home than he normally would.

‘When you’re in lockdown and you’re spending 24/7 with each other it really gives you the chance to really kind of re-connect and get to know each other better, not better, but you really get under the skin of your relationships with your kids and your missus,’ he added.

Vernon – who married Tess in 2003 – was hit by claims back in 2010 that he had exchanged flirty messages with Rhian Sugden.

The claims led Vernon to personally apologise to Tess on his Radio 1 show, saying: ‘Tess is extremely upset about this and we’re working through it.

‘But in some ways I’m glad this story has come out. It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.’

Rhian recently admitted she broke down in tears while looking back at her sexting scandal with Vernon during Channel 4 documentary Page Three: The Naked Truth which aired mid June.

Speaking to Fubar Radio the glamour model and former Celebrity Big Brother star said: ‘Yes I have a few regrets.

‘Obviously, the whole Vernon Kay scandal, that’s what I cry about in the documentary actually.

‘That was a massive regret. But I’m past the point of no return now. My boobs are all over the internet, so I’ve just got to embrace it, haven’t I.’
