Vanderpump Rules' newcomer Max Boyens apologizes for racist tweets: 'I am disgusted and embarrassed'

Two new castmembers of Vanderpump Rules have been exposed for posting racist tweets.

Max Boyens, 27, and Brett Caprioni, 31, both issued separate apologies after Twitter users unearthed a host of inappropriate messages, including the use of shocking N-word slurs.

Both men joined the cast of the hit reality show in the eighth season, which is currently airing on Bravo.

A source close to production told DailyMail.com the stars won’t be fired over the unearthed tweets, adding: ‘They have both been contrite and have apologized. Neither of the employees have displayed this kind of behavior at work.’

‘If Lisa had witnessed behavior like this in her diverse workplace they would both be fired immediately. This has not been the case at all.’

Max noted in an apology that while the unearthed comments were made in 2012, he was ‘shocked’ to have ever said anything so hurtful.

‘I want to sincerely apologize for what I tweeted in 2012 — it was wrong on every level,’ he said in a statement to People.

‘It is not a representation of who I am. I am shocked I ever tweeted that — and I am disgusted and embarrassed — I am truly sorry.’

He has since changed his Twitter account’s settings to private.

Boyen’s fascination with racial slurs came to light through a multitude of tweets which celebrated the use of the n-word.

Boyens was 19 years old at the time the tweets were sent out.

Brett, a server at Lisa’s popular SUR restaurant in West Hollywood, was in a similar position with multiple tweets shared with the casual use of the racial epithet.

In November 2012, he tweeted: ‘wassup wit black people wearin so much Aeropostale I don’t get it lol.’

‘I want to express my deepest apologies for the insensitive, ignorant, and hurtful comments I made,’ he shared in a lengthy message. ‘I am incredibly ashamed and accept full responsibility, and acknowledge that this language was as unacceptable then as it is now.

‘Please know that I have learned and grown since then and would never use this language today. From the bottom of my heart, I am truly sorry.’

Max and Brett both joined the eighth season of Vanderpump Rules recently, and Boyens (who previously dated Scheana Shay) admitted that he’s remaining honest and open while filming.

‘I mean no one else has a filter, so why should we? If I said something, I probably meant it,’ he said. ‘So it is what it is. I think it’s our truth, in the moment, it’s how we’re really feeling.’
