A fifth of fellas (20 per cent) blame work stress for hitting their love life.

A similar number (22 per cent) say it left them struggling to rise to the occasion.

Many are too embarrassed to talk to their GP or partner and are left feeling “less of a man”.

Seventeen per cent have secretly taken Viagra as a result, the poll of 1,035 men found.

More than six in ten in managerial roles (60.3 per cent) say they struggled to get it up. And 57.1 per cent of house-husbands and 53.9 of skilled manual workers were also left wanting.

But just 40.7 per cent of those in unskilled or semi-skilled jobs experienced the same problem.

Those earning £60,000 to £100,000 a year are most likely to suffer erectile dysfunction.

And men on less than £15,000 or more than £100,000 are least likely to report issues.

Dr Simran Deo, of online GP service Zava, which ordered  the poll, said: “Men in higher-paid managerial positions are more likely to experience ED. This could be down to the general age within these roles but could also be down to the higher levels of stress involved, lack of exercise and diet.

“These men can aim to reduce stress levels by doing regular exercise and eating healthier.

“Cutting down alcohol, especially before sex, can also help.”
