Val Kilmer moved in to Cher’s guest house during his battle with throat cancer… as the movie star speaks out about his health in new memoir

Val Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2015.

And in the movie star’s new memoir, I’m Your  Huckleberry, he opens up about his battle with cancer as well as Cher, who helped him get through it.

Cher, who previously dated the actor in the early eighties, invited the actor to move into her guest house during his illness.

Val, 60, wrote in his memoir: ‘One night I suddenly awoke vomiting blood that covered the bed like a scene out of The Godfather,’ via People.

The actor continued: ‘I prayed immediately, then called 9111. Then alerted my hostess. Cher stepped in and stepped up.’

He recalled that Cher, 73, was ‘scanning the paramedic’ who he said was ‘Gregory Peck drop-dead handsome.’

Val added: ‘Despite the fact that I was covered in blood, I caught her eye and bounced my brows like Groucho Marx. Hubba hubba.’

He said that the singer was ‘bashful to be busted’ but then he burst out laughing at the moment.

Val wrote: ‘Here we were, joking about beauty and desire, while I looked like a stunt man from Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, and, yes, while my life seemed to be in mortal danger.’

The star noted that they continued laughing out loud until he was hooked up with an oxygen mask and had his vitals checked.

Val is cancer free after undergoing a tracheotomy, chemotherapy and radiation; he also prayed for healing and turned his Christian Science faith.

The star said in his memoir: ‘I have been healed of cancer for over four years now, and there has never been any reoccurrence. I am so grateful,’ via People.

His speech has been affected by the cancer but he has been doing voice exercises daily.

Val said: ‘The fact that my impeded speech could spell the end of my career only served to motivate me.’

Val toured for his one main show about Mark Twain. 

His next role on the big screen is Top Gun: Maverick, which opens June 24 he reprises his role as LT Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky.

Val’s memoir I’m Your Huckleberry is set to be released April 21.
