Usain Bolt has become a father for the first time after welcoming a baby with his girlfriend Kasi Bennett.
The news was announced by Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Monday (18 May), who confirmed the couple are now proud parents of a baby girl.
‘Congratulations to our sprint legend Usain Bolt and Kasi Bennett on the arrival of their baby girl,’ Holness tweeted.
It comes just two months after Usain and Kasi, both 33, hosted a beautiful baby shower where they revealed the baby’s gender to their friends and family.
The party was held party at Peter’s Rock in Kingston, Jamaica in March and saw then mum-to-be Kasi wearing a stunning white puffball dress while Usain matched her in a smart all-white outfit.
In a TikTok post, the Olympic athlete then shared a video of him and Kasi kissing with the caption: ‘I am a girl dad I am serious happy @kasi_ [sic].’
But it seems Usain will be particularly protective of his baby girl, as he warned future love interests: ‘Any man! Any boy! Don’t play with me!’
In fact, Usain is taking his role as a ‘girl dad’ so seriously that he wore a hoodie with ‘president girl dad’ written on the back, while Kasi wore a matching jumper with ‘first lady girl mom’ on hers.
Mum-to-be Kasi, 33, posted a photo of her sharing another sweet kiss with Usain in the middle of the party.
The caption read: ‘My forever @usainbolt… thank you for being the most supportive partner a woman could dream of. Our princess is beyond blessed to have you as her father. We love you daddy.’
During the baby shower, Usain and Kasi were seen dancing to dancehall music before enjoying a fireworks display.
Usain and Kasi announced her pregnancy in January with a stunning photo shoot of the mum-to-be cradling her baby bump in a striking red gown.
‘I just want to say a KING or QUEEN is about to be HERE. @kasi.b,’ Usain wrote in an Instagram post at the time. Kasi added: ‘Our biggest blessing. Our greatest celebration… Our golden child. Coming soon…’
The couple made their relationship official back in 2016, but are thought to have been dating for years before this.
