Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are demanding A$AP Rocky’s release from Swedish prison.
The rapper was arrested in Stockholm on 3 July on suspicion of assault following an altercation between his entourage and another man, which was filmed on camera.
He is still in jail two weeks on, something which has prompted members of Congress to demand his release.
In a video uploaded by TMZ, Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York said the Congressional Black Caucus are joining the campaign to free A$AP.
‘The situation with ASAP Rocky is unfortunate, it’s outrageous, it needs to be addressed,’ he said.
‘You can expect that members of Congress, particularly those of use who are part of the Congressional Black Caucus, are going to continue to weigh in forcefully until ASAP Rocky is free.’
Members of the Caucus – including Hakeem and Andre Carson – will demand Rocky’s release from the steps of the US Capitol Building on Wedesday, TMZ claimed.
Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Andre and A$AP for comment.
A$AP – who was forced to cancel all his concerts in July because he’s locked up – is allegedly living in ‘inhumane conditions’ while in jail.
This includes feces being thrown around, sleeping on a yoga mat with no blankets and poor food.
It’s alleged that the water isn’t clean and that A$AP ate only an apple for the first five days in the jail that has been described as ‘disease ridden’.
Insiders say A$AP and his team are now trying to get the US State Department involved to get him released.
