Microsoft and retailer GAME are now offering a new Xbox console via monthly payments, with first dibs on Project Scarlett when it comes out.

With Microsoft’s Project Scarlett and Sony’s PlayStation 5 both due around the end of 2020, you might think now isn’t the best time to invest in a new games console. Microsoft and GAME, though, want to convince you otherwise.

As of today, you can purchase an Xbox All Access bundle – which comes with a new Xbox console of your choice, over 100 games, and online multiplayer – by paying monthly instalments, similar to a phone contract.

Full details can be found on GAME’s official website but there are three potential bundles to choose from. The first is the Xbox One S All-Digital bundle, which costs £17.99 a month. As the name suggests, you can only play digital copies of games on this console.

For £19.99 a month, you can get the same bundle except it comes with the Xbox One S; perfect for those that prefer owning physical copies of games or Blu-ray movies.

The last is the most expensive: the Xbox One X bundle. For what Microsoft touts as the world’s most powerful console, you have to pay £24.99 a month.

All three bundles also come with 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which grants unlimited access to some of the console’s newest and most popular titles, as well as Xbox Live Gold which provides online multiplayer.

Possibly the biggest draw of these bundles is that buying one means you can eventually upgrade it to Project Scarlett.

However, you can only take advantage of the upgrade after making 18 full payments. But if you purchase the Xbox One X bundle before 31 December, you can upgrade after only 12 payments instead.

‘It’s the most affordable way to buy a console and play all the latest games. It also means people can treat their loved ones to the ultimate Christmas present without breaking the bank,’ says Martyn Gibbs, CEO of GAME Digital.
