United Airlines passenger ‘forced to clean seat covered in another flyer’s vomit before sitting in it for 4-hour flight’


A UNITED Airlines passenger claims he and his wife were forced to sit in a vomit-covered seat and were given paper towels to clean it up himself when he complained.

Texas resident Sam Trail said that when he and his wife boarded United Flight 2057 from Vancouver to Houston on Sunday, he found his seat and the back of the seat in front of him covered with sick.

Sam told Click2Houston: “The seat in front of me was covered with vomit.

“They kept boarding the people and so we couldn’t move. We basically had our luggage in our laps trying to avoid contact with the vomit.”

Sam alleges that he alerted crew members about the disgusting situation, but they were more focused on the flight taking off on time.

He said: “I was told, ‘Oh, yeah, we can get a cleaning crew, but you’re going to be the reason this flight is delayed.'”

He claimed that a flight attendant gave him paper towels to clean the sick before a cleaner boarded the plane with a spray bottle and towel.

Even after the seat was “cleaned,” Sam says, there was still residue left.

Sam added: “There’s gotta be some limitations. I mean you have to provide a sanitary environment and there should be an apology.”

He later spoke to the pilots who apologised and said they would have brought on a cleaning crew if they had known the situation.

United Airlines told The Post that Sam was not forced to clean anything and that a cleaning crew was called on board to address the issue.

The airline also said that it was unknown whether it was actually vomit on the seat.

They added to Sun Online Travel: “As soon as this matter was brought to our crew’s attention, they called cabin cleaners who quickly arrived to clean the seats and the flight departed less than five minutes after its scheduled time.

“Cabin cleanliness is an important part of our customer’s journey, and we have reached out to our customers to discuss this experience with them directly. “
