One of the staff said: “We’re just working on opening up the door at the moment, ma’am. We’ll get you out soon, okay?”

Taylor added: “Update: passenger got out of bathroom thanks to @DenverFireDept and is ok…we have to get on another plane now. What an adventure.”

According to CBS, five firefighters and a mechanic were needed to get her out.

Passenger Todd Wagner said the plane “erupted in applause” when she escaped while the woman looked “mortified”.

The female passenger was able to escape unharmed after an hour.

Social media users were concerned, with one woman writing: “I shouldn’t have watched this. This is one of my fears.”

Another user said: “Proof lavs have gotten too small.”

Passengers have been sharing pictures of the cramped plane toilets, showing how small they are with some people over 6ft unable to stand up straight in them.

An embarrassed couple were spotted emerging from a plane bathroom after being inside for ten minutes.

The United passengers slunk out of the toilet while others were queuing to use it.
