UK vineyards you can book on Airbnb for a wine-themed staycation

In case you didn’t have it on your calendar, this week is English Wine Week, with the focus on making and drinking great wine here on our doorsteps.

In the same vein, this summer has been mostly about planning holidays on British shores, with travel restrictions scuppering most overseas travel plans.

That means demand for ‘staycations’ has gone way up, but there’s still time to bag yourself a wonderful break even if you can’t fly.

You can take a trip to a UK winery for a day’s tasting, but if you’re a wannabe sommelier, why not make it your whole holiday?

These properties on Airbnb are all located in or near some of the country’s best vineyards, and cost as little as £81 a night to stay in.

‘The Hide’ on The Vineyard, Dorset

‘The Hide’ is a shepherd’s hut, cabin and shower room that overlooks Little Waddon Vineyard with views across the valley and out to the sea.

Sit in the wood-fired hot tub overlooking the vines, with your only neighbours being a few cows that you’ll hear mooing away.

This luxury hobbit house hideaway is nestled In the heart of the Rother Valley a short walk from Bodiam Castle in the midst of a vineyard. 

Try English sparkling wine from the Oastbrook Vineyard, or explore the nearby Camber beach.

From £325 a night, with a two-night minimum.

As well as the nearby vineyards (which are award-winning), your stay at The Old Bakehouse will see you enjoyingg its idyllic, garden, fresh water lake, and wooded grounds.

Book yourself a tour of the vineyards, or a wine tasting to fully immerse yourself.

Folly Field Guestroom, Gloucester

This sweet guest room is ideal for wine lovers who also enjoy a hike, on the outskirts of the town of Stonehouse and in the grounds of Woodchester Valley Vineyard’s Doverow site.

It’s not far from the Cotswold way walk, so stop off here and take in a glass while you rest.

Also just off the Woodchester Valley Vineayard, this house is ideal for bigger groups of wine connoiseurs.

Book a tasting and tour at the local winery, or while away the days on the large patio out back.
