UK records further 20 Covid-19 deaths as fatalities nearly half in week

he UK Government reported 20 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus today as deaths continue to plummet.

Over the last week here have been 212 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows a decrease of 45.2 per cent compared to the previous 7 days.

One death was recorded in the capital according to the Public Health England dashboard.

The official UK toll now stands at 126,882.

2,379 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported today a fall from 2,762 recorded yesterday.

Last Tuesday, 4,040 people tested positive and 56 deaths were reported.

73,886 people were jabbed in the past 24 hours in England taking the national total to 31,164,176.

During a visit to AstraZeneca’s manufacturing plant in Macclesfield the Prime Minister told reporters: “On the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, the best thing people should do is look at what the MHRA say, our independent regulator – that’s why we have them, that’s why they are independent.

“Their advice to people is to keep going out there, get your jab, get your second jab.”
