It is, however, much more likely the supposed UFOs are simply smudges or other artefacts on the original image’s film negative.

According to Ilford Photo, a producer of analog film negatives, many problems can arise when processing film negatives into prints.

These include oddly-shaped marks, clear patches and surface drying marks from the chemicals of water used to process negatives.

The company said: “Irregular shaped dull marks or roundish spots on the surface of your film are likely to be drying marks.
