Tyson Fury is planning to sit down with Dana White to discuss his potential crossover to UFC .
The Gypsy King is in Las Vegas preparing for his upcoming boxing rematch against Deontay Wilder , but took some time out of his schedule to attend UFC 246 on Saturday.
He was in the stands at the T-Mobile Arena to watch Conor McGregor make his return to the sport, as the Irishman dispatched of his opponent Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in just 40 seconds.
Fury has recently teased stepping into the Octagon himself in the near future following his successful appearance on WWE, and has since clarified his thought process behind the switch.
Speaking to ESPN Radio , Fury said: “I don’t want to go into an MMA fight, rolling around the floor and all that, no. But I would fight one of their champions in small gloves.
“Maybe in a cage, but with boxing rules. I think that would be very interesting. … With UFC gloves, the little 4-ounce gloves, that would be good for me.”
Fury’s heritage is steeped in bare knuckle boxing history, counting ‘King of the Gypsies’ Uriah Burton and Bartley Gorman as relatives, hence his own nickname.
His heavyweight rival Wilder has also opened the door to a potential appearance in MMA, with plenty of opportunities on the horizon for the winner of their clash on February 22.
After his success on WWE in November, rumours are also circulating that Fury could be appearing at Wrestlemania.
But it seems the 30-year-old has his heart set on following in McGregor’s footsteps.
”After I beat Deontay Wilder next month, I’m going to have a sit-down with Dana [White] and we’re going to go for it, run some numbers and see if the fight makes sense,” he added.
“Whoever’s available from that side, and whoever’s willing to get their ass kicked in the cage by the heavyweight champion of the world, he’s the one I want.”
