Tyson Fury quizzed Anthony Joshua about Oleksandr Usyk potentially delaying their unification clash next year when the pair met in Spain.
The world champions bumped into each other on holiday in Marbella amid relentless speculation about an undisputed heavyweight showdown in 2021.
Joshua has already spoken about what he and Fury talked about, but has now revealed WBO No.1 challenger Usyk came up in the conversation.
‘I was walking to the port. What’s nice about the situation is that the port is a busy tourist attraction – so it’s not like we saw each other on a private golf course,’ AJ told Sky Sports.
‘We’re public people, normal people. I was walking down, he was driving. It was the most likely place to find someone like me or Tyson.
He said: “Don’t lose to Kubrat Pulev!” I said: “That’s something silly to say”.
‘He said: “Have you got to fight Usyk?”
‘I said: “Look Tyson – when me and you can get a fight together, we don’t have to worry about Usyk. See you next year”.
‘I said hello to Mrs Fury, gave her a wave, and that was it.’
Usyk was scheduled to fight Derek Chisora this summer before the coronavirus pandemic forced Matchroom to postpone the event.
Joshua and Fury have also lost fight dates to the health crisis, but all three heavyweights are expected to appear in the ring before the end of 2020.
Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn has already said Joshua will fight behind closed doors if crowds continue to be outlawed.
Should Joshua beat Pulev, the WBO have insisted the three-belt champion will fight Usyk next rather than jump straight into a two-fight deal with WBC king Fury.
