Tyler, the Creator scores No. 1 album with IGOR

Tyler, the Creator’s new album, IGOR, has topped the Billboard 200 charts for the first time.

According to Nielson Music, the American rapper’s fifth full length album had 74,000 sales and racked up 122 million streams since its release last week.

His 2017 album, Flower Boy, narrowly missed out on the coveted top spot and was beaten by Lana Del Rey’s Lust for Life record.

The rapper made his first UK visit in four years last week after being banned from the country in 2015 by then home secretary Theresa May. He tweeted his delight at the prime minister’s resignation on Friday, posting: “Theresa gone, I’m back.”

May banned Tyler from the UK after stating his lyrics encouraged “violence and intolerance of homosexuality.” She also went on to say his songs “foster hatred with views that seek to provoke others to terrorist acts.”

Tyler, who has refuted these claims, told the Guardian at the time, that being turned away at the UK border was “one of the sh**tiest days I’ve ever had… I felt like a criminal.”

Tyler, the Creator will be on tour in the UK in September.
