DIRTY SECRET

Mr Milani is hoping to unseat Boris Johnson in Uxbridge and South Ruislip – while Ms Sultana is defending Labour’s seat in Coventry South.

The revelation came at the same time as Cage was castigated for failing to alert authorities about Jihadi John, Isis’s chief executioner.

Cage was branded a terrorist sympathiser for describing Jihadi John as a “beautiful man” just days after a horrifying video emerged of him behading an American journalist.

Despite Cage’s defence and dodgy links with Jihadi John, both Ms Sultana and Mr Milani – who have bothed been condemned in recent days for anti-Semitic slurs and violent languauge, signed a letter to the NUS President criticising her decision to break links with Cage.

That decision was taken after the Government barred the controversial charity from working on its counter-terrorism programme – called Prevent.

Mr Milani and Ms Sultana were among 80 university Student Union members who attacked the NUS for taking a “decidedly apologetic and defensive tone instead of standing strong against bullying from the state”.

Defending Cage, the letter added: “The campaign against CAGE led by the government is only one high profile example of the sustained attacks Muslim-led organisations across the spectrum have been subjected to under PREVENT and counter-terrorism legislation.

“While cutting ties with CAGE denies NUS a wealth of experience and information in tackling PREVENT, NUS’ insistence on reiterating baseless, Islamophobic smears against the organisation has much wider ramifications — adopting the narrative and language of the government when dealing with Muslim groups directly reinforces the framework of PREVENT: that politically active Muslim organisations are beyond the pale to engage with, and that Muslims should be left to fight alone.”
