Two international tenants move in to Clyde Gateway business park

DHL Express and Torishima Service Solutions Europe (TSSE) have signed up for units at Clyde Gateway East Business Park in Glasgow in a move that will bring 145 jobs.

TSSE, the European arm of Japanese group Torishima Pump Manufacturing Company, has taken up 27,448 sq ft on a 15-year lease as its new European headquarters. It will be a base for 50 highly skilled engineering workers.

Global logistics company DHL Express has agreed a pre-let for a service centre that has still to be built. Its team of 95 will move in by summer next year.

Harris Finance, which is headquartered in Clyde Gateway and has developed and let 150,000 sq ft of business space there, has bought the plot and will work with DHL on the project.

The DHL Express Service Centre will offer an international delivery and parcel drop-off and pick-up point. DHL Express plans to move in to their new facility by summer 2020, with the move allowing for continued growth to support its customers in the region.

Clyde Gateway East is already home to BT, Dentec Scotland, Cusack, Glacier Energy Services Holdings and Greencore Food to Go. Speculative developments under construction by Aberdeen Standard Investments will provide a further three units, bringing the development total to 195,011 sq ft.

Gerry Ashe, deputy CEO & head of global business at Torishima’s parent company, said: “When considering where to establish our new European headquarters, we needed a location with easy access to the motorway network and airports.

“We previously had a temporary home at Clyde Gateway East, so we knew that the location fitted the bill for our European business. Unit 201 is a high-quality building, and one of the very few industrial properties available in Scotland that meets all our technical requirements.”

Ross Harris, director at Harris Finance, said: “We are really pleased to have secured DHL Express as a tenant for our site at Clyde Gateway East and to have attracted another world class business to the Clyde Gateway area. We are working on site already with the expectation of having the building completed by summer next year.”

Ian Manson, chief executive at Clyde Gateway, said: “We are delighted to attract two leading global brands to Clyde Gateway East, confirming its credentials as a leading industrial location.

“On the back of our site assembly, infrastructure investment and marketing efforts, Clyde Gateway East is one of the few locations where industrial units have been built speculatively in recent years and has been extremely successful in attracting high quality businesses.”

Property agents Ryden represented the landlords in both letting transactions.
