Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has sent fans wild after posting a cryptic countdown on her website. 

Taking over the author’s, 46, entire homepage, the timer, which has a star-filled background, is counting down until Monday May 4.

And despite there being no explanation or clue, fans have already predicted there could be a new series of the Twilight novels or a sequel to The Host.

Taking to Twitter to share both their theories and excitement, one fan said: ‘The countdown timer on the Stephenie Meyer website has given me anxiety for the past 24 hours. What does is mean?! I’m so stressed Stephenie Meyer is too powerful.’ 

A different book lover exclaimed: ‘Why does Stephanie Meyer’s website have a countdown? What the hell is coming in three days??? 

‘Are we finally getting a sequel to The Host? Or, God Forbid, is she dropping that book that got leaked that was Twilight but from Edward’s perspective???’

Another account put: ‘So there’s currently a timer on stephenie meyer’s (the woman who wrote the twilight saga) website for three more days and i’m TERRIFIED….

While a different follower added: ‘Stephenie Meyer has a countdown on her pg and if she releases ‘Midnight Sun’…. i might just lose it.’
