Tweed blonde is the sun-kissed shade we predict will be everywhere next season

Not one to rest on your laurels? If you’re already looking ahead to next season’s beauty trends there’s one hair shade pros are spotlighting as big news. Tweed Blonde is being pegged by top hair colourists as the shade to have on your radar.

“For autumn and winter 2022, I’m predicting more clients will be embracing Tweed Blonde,” says  Jordanna Cobella, Cobella salon owner and Wella Professionals Digital Craft Expert, who coined the term. She describes it as “a neutral, natural blonde, with cool and warm tones finely woven together to create this harmonious blonde look.” The subtly contrasting tones criss-cross beautifully, just like the threads of a tweed fabric. Plus, “the multi-dimensional look imitates how light would reflect on natural hair, creating a sun-kissed look,” explains Jordanna, so it’s a shade to jump on early, while we still have some gorgeous sunshine, to really make the most of it.

As for how to get the new-gen goldilocks shade “just right”, Jordanna recommends Wella Professionals’ new in-salon Shinefinity service for a hair glow-up. “The Shinefinity glazes can be woven throughout the hair to create a tweed effect,” she explains and – bonus – “because they’re zero damage, they add a healthy-looking shine to the hair,” she says. The shade is picking up where Expensive Blonde left off – the luxe, gently dimensional hair colour that’s headlined spring. “It’s a really soft contrast so there are fewer shadows in the hair, but it’s not one set colour. There’s still dimension, there’s still highs and lows,” celebrity hairstylist Tom Smith, European creative director for Evo Hair explained. “Generally, it’s a warmer shade but I think this is really going to do well in Spring,” he said previously.

But, if you want to up the ante with some delicate details stitched through your strands, Tweed Blonde offers even more pretty contrasting tones.
