TUI holiday date: When will TUI start operating again? Is my holiday safe?

TUI has implemented several measures to its holiday programme amid the coronavirus outbreak. Travel firms around the country have been hit hard by the infection which has run rampant across the globe. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised against all but essential travel, but when exactly will TUI start operating again and is your holiday safe?

How long are TUI holidays suspended for?

TUI holidays have been suspended for five weeks in total.

Essentially this means all holidays travelling on or before May 14, 2020 have been cancelled.

Marella Cruises sailings travelling on or before May 31 and TUI River Cruises sailings travelling up until and including November 25 are also affected.

A spokesperson for the company said: “We are constantly monitoring the situation and will start taking people on holiday again as soon as we are able to do so.

“At this point in time, nobody can accurately predict when that will be, so for the time being we will keep a close eye on our programme and continue to amend and adapt timings in line with the latest global travel advice.”

What if you are due to travel before June 30?

If you have an existing book for a TUI, Marella Cruises or First Choice package holiday which was booked before March 17, 2020 and means you will travel before June 30, you can amend it for free for any holiday which is currently on sale.

If you pick a holiday which is cheaper than the original booking, you will be refunded the difference.

However, if it is more expensive, you will need to pay the difference in price.

You can make a change free of charge up until seven days before your original departure date, up to May 31, 2020.
