The cancellations, due to ongoing travel restrictions amid the pandemic, include holidays from the UK to destinations such as Spain and Greece departing on or before June 30.

But guidance from the Foreign Office still advises against all non-essential travel abroad.

The travel firm, which includes the First Choice brand, is also halting sailings on its Marella Cruises line until at least July 30.

Tui’s river cruises will not resume until after November 25. Affected customers will get a refund or credit.

In Germany – Tui’s other big customer market -the warning against travel could be eased on 15 June.

All customers whose bookings are impacted by the changes will receive a refund credit, or they can request a cash refund via an online form on the Tui website.

The firm said: “Tui UK and Ireland confirms that due to the on-going travel restrictions it is extending its cancellations of all beach holidays until 30 June and all Marella Cruises sailings up to 30 July 2020.

“All customers should receive their refund credit within four weeks before their original departure date; customers who booked on the Tui or First Choice website or via the Tui or First Choice app can amend their booking with their incentive themselves via Manage my Booking.”
