YouTubers including Trisha Paytas and Brittani Louise Taylor have faced backlash for supporting Shane Dawson amid his recent drama with Tati Westbrook.

Beauty guru Tati, who made an exposé video on James Charles last year, has now claimed that Shane and Jeffree Star ‘gaslit’ her into making it.

Shane has denied the claims, accusing Tati of ‘fake crying’ and being ‘manipulative’ while Jeffree has not yet addressed the allegations publicly.

While many internet stars spoke out against Shane, Brittani Louise Taylor, who was the subject of one of his infamous YouTube series, supported him.

Telling a story about Shane buying an iPad for an Apple Store associate when it was first launched, she added: ‘Shane has done countless things just like this in all the time I have known him.

‘No tweet, or post, about his good deeds.’

Brittani went on to explain how Shane ‘had her back’ when she was leaving her abusive ex, and added: ‘Has he said and done some really stupid things in his twenties? Heck yes! Your forgiveness for his past actions are for you and you alone to decide.

‘I just love my friend and this is coming from a place of love.’

Trisha Paytas retweeted the post, adding: ‘His channel has been demobilized , his name forever associated with bad actions , he’s apologized and offered no excuses. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT ???? again this is a human being.

‘Only can take so much. Please think about this. It hurts my heart so much. And it worries me even more.’

Eugenia Cooney, who has also featured on Shane’s channel, added: ‘I agree with everything you said so much!! This kind of hate is too much for anyone to handle and I wish people would think about if it was them getting hated on and how they might feel. No one deserves to be treated like that.’

However, viewers were left unimpressed with the trio’s comments after Shane’s past actions, with one writing: ‘Just because he was kind to you and others doesn’t mean he hasn’t been manipulative or toxic to somebody else. People aren’t just good and evil, we can behave differently depending on who we’re surrounding ourselves with.’

‘So because he was nice to you, we should just forget every disgusting thing he’s ever done or said?’ another asked.

Another told Brittani: ‘Sorry but a few good deeds doesn’t excuse him building a career around being a disgusting human being.’

Shane recently came under fire after he uploaded an apology for previously using blackface and racial slurs in his videos, with some saying there’s ‘no apology’ that could make up for his actions.

A couple of days later, Jaden Smith hit out at him for allegedly sexualising his younger sister Willow when she was 11, with the pair’s mother Jada also telling him there are ‘no excuses’.

Most recently, Tati claimed Shane and his close friend Jeffree manipulated her into making her exposé video about James.

Shane later denied the claims and accused her of ‘fake crying’ and being ‘manipulative’ during a rant on Instagram Live.
