Tried and tested: is the Pat McGrath x Supreme lipstick worth the hype?

Finding a universally perfect and compatible red lipstick is akin to finding a needle in a haystack.

In the pantheon of lip lacquers and pout perfectors, there are few rouge shades that will work for everybody, all the time.

May I introduce you then to Supreme’s first-ever beauty launch, a deliciously scarlet lipstick in collaboration with none other than legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath.

The lippie, which launched today, sold out in approximately ten seconds and is now selling on re-sale sites for one hundred per cent its RRP. And for good reason.

Often where hyperbole lingers in the beauty sphere, expectations are scarcely met, but here’s a lipstick that is so unabashedly universal it’s a wonder us beauty buffs have got this far without it.

The consistency is matte, hence its moniker, but shuns any semblance of the chalkiness that others tend to lean towards. All it took was one swipe for my lips to be kissably red and soft (have you ever known a matte lipstick to make your lips softer than before?)

And then there’s the cult red Supreme packaging which, let’s face it, is the slickest and most handbag-ready tube you ever did see.

The lipstick was exclusively available to buy for £36 on Supreme’s website: keep your eyes peeled for re-stocks.
