Trevor McDonald, 80, was a staple on our TV screens for decades, presenting the News at Ten and Tonight with Trevor McDonald. Trevor McDonald has always been incredibly private about his personal life. Here’s what we know about the broadcaster and his family.

Who is Trevor McDonald?

Trevor McDonald was born on August 16, 1939.

The eldest of four children, Trevor once recalled: “We lived in a terribly small house with cracks in the walls, which we used to paper over with newspaper.”

He is a Trinidadian-British newsreader and journalist, and he started his career in the news in the 1960s.

Trevor started presenting the ITN early evening news in 1989, and went on to present the News at Ten and later Tonight with Trevor McDonald.

Over the course of his career, Trevor has interviewed world figures like Nelson Mandela and US President Bill Clinton.

Trevor announced for the first time he would be retiring from his role as a newsreader in 2005.

However, Trevor later came out of retirement in 2008 to present the News at Ten again.

The pair married in 1988, and they have one child together named Jack.

Trevor was previously married to his first wife, a woman called Beryl, who he divorced in 1985.

Trevor and Beryl had two children together, Joanne and Tim.

The Mail on Sunday reported in February of this year that Trevor and his wife had put their seven-bedroom Richmond mansion up for sale.

Trevor and Josephine reportedly bought the house in 2001 for £2.3 million.
