Treat your loved ones this Easter with cheap goodies that won’t break the bank

THERE is still time to treat loved ones this Easter – you just have to be more creative.

Here are some easy and cheap ways to make someone happy.

Sweet treat: I discovered that Deliveroo now delivers pick ’n’ mix where I live. It’s way too expensive but I do think this might cheer someone up. Go DIY instead. Make a baking-paper cone by cutting off a section, folding it in half and then rolling it into a cone shape.

Fill with sweets (I like Asda’s wine gums, 46p) and pop them in a box. If it is a birthday, why not fill it with sweets from the eras of their youth? Classics are always a hit.

Flower power: Bunches are always a top treat for anyone, at any time. But you don’t need to spend big. Try eflorist.co.uk, where The Rose Medley bouquet is on offer for £14.99, down from £24.99, and comes with free chocolates.

Plus, go via Quidco.com and get 16 per cent cashback. That’s a tenner saved on the flowers and for these, £2.39 back.

Re-gifting: I’m not talking about giving your old stuff to someone. Instead, a freebie from one company can be the perfect gift for someone else.

Cashback site Mymoneypocket.co.uk will give you a free Rituals hand balm worth £9.90 from Lookfantastic.co.uk just for signing up. You could then get it and send it to someone else, or ask for it to be sent to a different address for a friend.

Chocs away: Boxes of chocolates are always great to receive — but easy to make and send yourself. Making your own can double up as a way to keep kids busy, too. You can buy silicon chocolate moulds from around £5 on Amazon.co.uk.

Melt chocolate and pour into the moulds. Another, even cheaper, method is to melt chocolate down, line a baking tin with baking paper and pour in. Then decorate with whatever you have in the cupboard. Dried fruit, marshmallows and crumbled biscuits all work well. Leave to set, break into shards, wrap and send.

Reader’s saving tip

JULIE AUSTIN, from Marden, Kent, says: “Instead of buying branded, expensive anti-limescale products for your washing machine, add 1 tbsp of soda crystals to the washing powder. It stops limescale and makes laundry soft.”

Send your tips to sunsavers.co.uk/tips and you will get 28 codes worth £5 if yours is used. Include your name and town.
