Travel blogger defends decision to dangle girlfriend off pool edge: 'It was her idea'

Travel bloggers hit back at trolls who criticised their Instagram photoshoot.

Kelly and Kody were branded “dumb” when they posed on the edge of an infinity pool.

It didn’t take long for their picture to go viral, with many warning the stunt could have ended in disaster.

In a controversial photo, US influencer Kelly can be seen dangling off the edge of an infinity pool.

As she balances on the edge of the water feature, her partner Kody remains in a safe position.

The Instagram star clings to him as she balances above a large drop.

As the picture swept the web, many branded the photoshoot as “ridiculous”.

One commenter remarked: “Dumbest thing I’ve seen today.

“Imagine if she fell, all for the sake of a little internet fame.”

A second complained: “What a stupid ridiculous photo.

“When one of you falls and meets your death than we will see if Instagram was worth it idiots.”

Another asked: “Oh my gosh! Was this not terrifying?”

Following the backlash, Kody defended the risky photoshoot.

He told INSIDER: “What is probably most surprising to any audience is that this photo was actually Kelly’s idea.

“We are both in good shape, we know our bodies and in turn, we know our limits.

“We had faith in each other and trust to pull this off and so we made the choice as a team to shoot it.

“There is a lip, where the ridge of the infinity pool juts out over the wall where Kelly could get a solid grip and place her weight on her forearms.

“I held her the entire time and if zoomed you can actually see my grip on her arm.”

The travel bloggers added that they are used to taking extreme photographs.

In the past, they have jumped from great heights in a bid to nail the perfect shot.

Kody added: “We have both jumped off of waterfalls and bridges much higher than this infinity pool so the height aspect wasn’t a concern for us at all.”
