Transgender lottery winner Melissa Ede dealt crushing blow on Jeremy Kyle before death

Transgender lottery winner Melissa Ede appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show just over two years before her tragic death.

The taxi driver and transgender advocate appeared on the ITV show back in January 2017, where she discovered that her daughter Emily was not biologically hers.

Melissa was devastated to discover the news after a DNA test, but claimed she still wanted to be involved in Emily’s life.

She also vowed to calm down her social media presence, after Emily admitted her videos dancing online left her “embarrassed”.

However, tragically, just months later Melissa has passed away with a suspected heart attack.

The former taxi driver, who won £4million on a scratch card, was rushed to hospital on bank holiday Monday, and passed away on Saturday May 11.

Her fiancee, Rachel Nason, confirmed the sad news this morning.

Melissa had told The Mirror last Tuesday: “I really did think my time was up. My chest was crushing in. I thought, ‘This is it.’”

At the time, doctors said it was not a heart attack and her lungs and heart were fine.

“It makes you realise how precious life is,” she said. “You can be here one minute and gone the next.”

Mel recently told The Mirror that she felt like a “brand new woman” after splashing out £50,000 on new teeth, lip fillers, cheek fillers and botox.

She had booked the “next phase” of her transformation – and was about to splash out £15,000 on a nose job and facelift.

Her sad death comes just over a year after she bagged £4m in the lottery.

It also comes the same day as ITV decided to pull the Jeremy Kyle Show off air following a separate contestant death.

ITV decided to suspend both filming and broadcasting with immediate effect while a serious review is conducted into the episode in question.

Mirror Online understands that Melissa’s death has no connection to today’s cancellation.
