  • Manchester United are interested in prising a long-term target away from Real Madrid
  • Chelsea have been advised to follow in Liverpool’s footsteps and sell a key player
  • Arsenal have had one of their key transfer decisions questioned by a Gunners legend
  • Barcelona have ruled out signing one of Europe’s hottest prospects – for now

08.45 UPDATE: Chelsea blunder

Chelsea seem to have forgotten about one of their own transfer deals having branded a signing as an academy product on Twitter.

The Blues’ official account for fans in the USA shared an image of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Andreas Christensen and Ethan Ampadu.

Alongside the picture of the trio on the Stamford Bridge, they wrote the caption “Made in Chelsea” suggesting the trio all came through at Chelsea.

However, fans and Ampadu’s old club Exeter City were quick to point out the defender was signed from the Grecians rather than being developed in west London.

08.25 UPDATE: Arsenal dig?

Aaron Ramsey has been accused of kicking Arsenal while they are down as the Gunners hopes of Champions League qualification were left hanging by a thread.

The midfielder was absent on Sunday as Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Brighton left them needing a final-day win and an almighty goal-swing to reach the top four.

And he was subsequently accused of putting the boot in post-match while discussing his impending free transfer switch to Juventus.

“You know, I am going to be going to a club in the Champions League,” said Ramsey, during a teary-eyed interview on the Emirates pitch.

08.05 UPDATE: Barcelona deny deal

Barcelona chief Jordi Mestre has claimed the Champions League semi-finalists are not in for Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt just yet.

“I don’t know why they’re saying this because [De Ligt] hasn’t signed,” he said. “[Gerard] Pique is evidently one of the best central defenders in the world, if not the best.

“After him, we have players like [Clement] Lenglet, [Samuel] Umtiti and we’ve signed a very young player in [Jean-Clair] Todibo.

“The defenders we already have are of the highest level. In De Ligt’s case, we’ll speak with the sporting director at the end of the season and we’ll speak not about De Ligt, but about what they say.”

07.35 UPDATE: Arsenal blast

Arsenal hero Ian Wright is furious about the Gunners’ failure to tie down Aaron Ramsey to a new contract.

“The summer’s going to be interesting. We know we’ve got people leaving,” Wright said. “Letting Ramsey leave was terrible business by the club, if he was going to go, see if you can get some money for him.

“If we’re talking bout the summer and Unai Emery only having maybe £45m, is the rumour, for them to not do the business where you get some money for a great player is bad business.

“I’m not going to blame the current incumbents, you have to blame [former chief executive Ivan] Gazidis.”

07.05 UPDATE: Chelsea to copy Liverpool

Chelsea have been told by John Barnes to offload Eden Hazard so they can thrive like Liverpool have since selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

“I think they need to get away from Eden Hazard,” Barnes said. “I think Liverpool, when Coutinho left, they were a much better team.

“I think Hazard influences the team so much that anywhere he goes you have to give him the ball. They’ve got good players and they can’t show their worth.”

Hazard is top of Real Madrid’s list of targets as Zinedine Zidane looks to freshen up his underperforming squad this summer.

06.35 UPDATE: Man Utd Real Madrid raid ON

Manchester United have identified Keylor Navas as the man to replace David de Gea if the goalkeeper leaves Old Trafford.

De Gea is demanding a whopping £350,000-a-week deal to stay in Manchester beyond June 2020, when his current contract expires.

United chiefs are considering selling the Spaniard, who has Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund among his admirers.

Express Sport understands United have chosen Real Madrid‘s Navas to take De Gea’s place in goal, with the Red Devils keeping tabs on him for a few years.
