08:30 UPDATE: Antonio Conte signs

Inter Milan handed the reigns to former Juventus, Chelsea and Italy coach Antonio Conte, giving him the job of attempting to revive a side who have not won a major trophy for eight years.

The fiery 49-year-old, famous for his dressing-room tirades, will replace Luciano Spalletti who parted company with the Chinese-owned club on Thursday, two years before the end of his contract, despite guiding them into next season’s Champions League.

“A new chapter in my life is beginning, I’m really excited,” Conte said in a statement on Inter’s website.

Inter have won 18 Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia seven times but have struggled since winning a Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia treble under Jose Mourinho in 2010.

08:15 UPDATE: Reece James bid

Manchester United are plotting a shock summer raid on Chelsea in a bid to sign right-back sensation Reece James, according to reports.

James is one of the most highly-rated young defenders in the country and has caught the attention of a number of clubs after a stunning loan spell with Wigan in 2018-19.

Leicester are also said to be interested in the 19-year-old but The Sun claim United hold the edge as younger sister Lauren plays for United’s women’s team.

The report says Chelsea would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £15m and United are desperate for a new right-back.

08:05 UPDATE: Philippe Coutinho preference

Philippe Coutinho would prefer to leave Barcelona for Chelsea rather than Manchester United, according to reports.

Mundo Deportivo claim United’s lack of Champions League football means the Brazilian is reluctant to move to Old Trafford.

Coutinho is said to be waiting to know if the Blues have their transfer ban overturned by The Arbitration of Sport.

If they are granted license to spend this summer, then Coutinho could move to Chelsea to replace Eden Hazard.

07:45 UPDATE: Liverpool double deal

Liverpool are set to offer Joel Matip and James Milner new contracts.

That’s according to the Telegraph, who claim the pair will be rewarded after Saturday’s Champions League final against Tottenham.

The duo, 27 and 33 respectively, currently have one year left on their existing deals at Anfield.

The Reds reportedly view Milner as one of the fittest members of their squad, while Matip has formed a good relationship with centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

07:30 UPDATE: Arsenal key signings

Unai Emery has drawn up plans to prioritise signings in three positions, according to reports.

The Mirror report that the Spanish boss has huge plans this summer and wants to completely revitalise his first-team squad.

Three players who Emery could sell are Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as he looks to free up added funds to bolster his side.

It is claimed offloading all of the trio would take as much as £50m off of the club’s wage bill, which would offer Emery added finances to target more signings.

With that money, Emery will look at bringing in a winger, a box-to-box midfielder and a commanding centre-back.

07:15 UPDATE: Liverpool talks underway

Liverpool have opened talks with Lille over forward Nicolas Pepe, journalist Duncan Castles claims.

Pepe netted 23 goals and provided a further 12 assists in all competitions last season to help Lille secure Champions League football.

“[Liverpool] have been, I’m told, in contact with Pepe’s agent to discuss a deal, discuss his interest in coming there, what it would cost to bring him there,” he told The Transfer Window podcast.

“Lille are aware of this and are waiting for a bid. As we told you on The Transfer Window a couple of weeks ago, Manchester United have enquired direct with Lille about what the transfer fee would be.”

Lille value their prized asset at £80million.
