The budget…

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is set to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer an enormous transfer kitty.

The Red Devils are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the January transfer window to help secure Champions League qualification.

The Sun claim Solskjaer will be given a whopping £250million next year and that figure could rise to £400m if Paul Pogba is sold for his £150m valuation.

The report claims United could splurge on Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, Sporting Lisbon playmaker Bruno Fernandes and Norwegian hotshot Erling Haaland.

Chelsea bid for Ben White

Chelsea have their sights set on Brighton defender Ben White.

White, 22, is enjoying a successful loan spell with Premier League hopefuls Leeds and has attracted plenty of attention with his consistent displays.

The Sun claim Frank Lampard wants the talented centre-back at Stamford Bridge to bolster his defensive options and will offer £25million.

Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with White in recent months – but Chelsea could land the first blow in January.

Wanted: Lautaro Martinez and Leandro Paredes

Manchester United are considering a double swoop for Lautaro Martinez and Leandro Paredes.

That’s according to the Mirror, who claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the Argentine duo at Old Trafford.

Inter Milan striker Martinez, 22, has a £92million release clause in his contract while Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Paredes would reportedly command a £36m fee.

The pair are said to be aware of Manchester United’s interest and could join Solskjaer’s youthful ranks next summer.

Erling Haaland January deal

Erling Haaland has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he wants to sign for Manchester United in January.

Reports suggest Solskjaer flew to Austria this week to meet with the highly-rated youngster.

And the Mirror claim Haaland has told the United boss he would like to move to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens next month.

The 19-year-old missed Salzburg’s game against Hartberg on Saturday ahead of Austria’s two-month winter break.

That means he could have played his final match for the club if a big-money move materialises next month.

Wayne Rooney return…

Wayne Rooney is convinced he has still got what it takes to prosper in the Premier League as he targets a return with Derby.

The former Everton and Manchester United striker will resume his career in England next month after joining the Rams as player-coach from MLS side DC United, and promotion back to the top flight and the chance to take care of unfinished business are at the top of his agenda.

“I still felt I could do it when I was at Everton, but other people made their decisions on that,” Rooney said. “Now my ambition is to get Derby back in the Premier League and hopefully play my part there for them.

“Ryan Giggs was able to play into his late thirties in the Premier League and Gareth Barry says he wants to do it at 40.”
