14:45 UPDATE: Man Utd to sign a striker?

Man Utd need to bring in an accomplished striker this summer to boost their pursuit of Champions League football this season, Jonathan Spector claims.

“I think it would be great if [Marcus] Rashford was able to step up and take that role but I don’t know that he is a finished product yet,” the American said.

“It ‘s a young team that they’ve got and I think they need to find the right balance between youth and experience, and I’d love to see them bring in a proven goal scorer.

“More like a Van Nistelrooy. Which every club wants, someone you know who is going to get you a number of goals.

“Harry Kane is a perfect example, I’d love to see them bring in someone like that, but also I don’t know how much money is being made available for that position!”

12:30 UPDATE: Chelsea transfer prediction

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard could have a monster war chest to work with for incoming transfers in 12 months’ time, Pat Nevin claims.

“To some degree, he is going to have a monster war chest in a year’s time. He’s got an entire year to look, to check, to see everything around him,” he said.

“So if he’s given that year – as long as they don’t get relegated! – and he goes into the season after this one, he’s got a fair to meddling chance.

“This season I wouldn’t say is a write-off but the expectation must, if they’ve any sense at all, be quite low.”
