10:10 UPDATE: Mane could ‘walk into any team’

Liverpool star Sadio Mane could walk into any team in the world, Jamie Redknapp claims.

He wrote in his Mail column: “Sadio Mane is making a great case to be considered Liverpool’s main man above Mohamed Salah.

“The 27-year-old is producing magic on the pitch and would walk into any team. He showed that against Southampton, scoring a screamer then setting up Roberto Firmino to confirm the 2-1 win.

“The statistics highlight his impact.

“No one has scored more Premier League goals than him in 2019. He took his tally to 15 on Saturday, and not a single one of those has come from the penalty spot.

“It is three years ago this week that Mane made his league debut for Liverpool, scoring the fourth goal in a 4–3 win at Arsenal. He is now performing as well as he has ever done under Jurgen Klopp.”

09:00 UPDATE: Luiz on Arsenal transfer

David Luiz revealed how a chat with Chelsea manager Frank Lampard helped seal his transfer away from Stamford Bridge.

“I could choose a comfortable zone, get money, be cool and that is it. But I like a new challenge and new things in my life,” Luiz told the ESPN Brasil.

“This is what gives me oxygen and gives me motivation. One day football will finish and I will have to find other things to try and improve every day as I will miss football.

“I am trying to be honest – first with my heart, and then honest in the way to try new things.

“Everyone knows I was so happy at Chelsea and I won many trophies there. But I had a real honest conversation with Lamps, and Lamps had different ideas with his plans for the year.

“So the best way for me to respect the club was to move on, try to do a new challenge and give him the opportunity to do his job.”

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said: “I can confirm that Karl-Heinz Rummenigge [Bayern chairman] and I have been in Barcelona this week, agreeing with the player and the adviser.

“We had very good talks and I want to say thank you to Barcelona.

“Medical check and signature and we are very happy to have won this player, it will be a one-year loan deal with a call option.”

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted Paul Pogba will stay at the club.

“For me, yeah, he’s going to stay,” said Solskjaer. “I’ve got absolutely no concerns on Paul.

“You always put question marks around Paul.

“I don’t think its odd, saying ‘I enjoy playing, I have fun with my team-mates, I enjoy what I’m doing , I love my job and enjoy the game’.

“Of course, that sentence with the question mark about him, there’s always question marks about Paul.

“There’s not one press conference that I’ve not answered a question about Paul Pogba, but 80 per cent of what he said was that he enjoyed that game and his time here.”
