Michelle Visage won’t have the upper hand – or maybe foot? – when it comes to Strictly Come Dancing.

The 50-year-old has joined the celebrity line-up on Strictly Come Dancing this year.

And despite having some background in ballet and choreography, when it comes to ballroom dancing she is on the same footing as her fellow contestants.

In an interview with The Sunday Post, Michelle said: ‘When I was seven years old I did the obligatory ballet and jazz dancing, and I did that for quite some years.

‘And then that’s where it ended. Then I did choreography and a girl group but I’ve never done a ballroom thing in my life.’

Michelle has been married to husband David Case for over 20 years and isn’t the slightest bit worried about the so-called ‘Strictly curse’.

‘My husband of 22 years is the love of my life. It’s laughable is what it is. Let’s be real.’

The RuPaul’s Drag Race star added that she loves Strictly so much because it reminds her of drag.

‘The costuming, the hair, the tanning – all of it. I can’t wait to be the colour of a hardwood floor! I’m very excited.’

Michelle recently kicked off rehearsals with the rest of the cast, sharing an Instagram picture of them all together for the very first time.

She was joined in the dance studio by fellow contestants such as Jamie Laing from Made In Chelsea, TV personality Anneka Rice, Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley and comedian Chris Ramsay.

In the caption, Michelle said: ‘DAY 1 of @bbcstrictly rehearsals and we smashed it!….. Kinda…… CAN’T WAIT FOR MORE! love you ALL!’

However that ‘kinda’ suggests they may have found getting to grips with ballroom dancing pretty tricky – as anyone who was doing it for the first time would.

Strictly Come Dancing returns later in the year.
