Tracy Vo reveals how Nine's Perth newsroom is social distancing

Tracy Vo resumed her duties as a newsreader for Nine News Perth this week, after moving back to WA to be closer to her parents during the coronavirus pandemic. 

And on Friday, the 37-year-old journalist has shared a glimpse into how Nine’s Perth newsroom was handling the government’s social distancing rules. 

She uploaded photos to Instagram showing how she was keeping away from her colleagues, including Liam Bartlett and Michael Thomson.

The journalists either kept far apart from each other in the newsroom, or worked on opposites sides of a glass divider. 

‘Have a safe Easter everyone. Remember social distancing,’ Tracy wrote in the caption. ‘There’s a bit of a yarn on my return west, link in bio.’

The 9Now article to which she was referring included quotes from Tracy about her ‘hard decision’ to leave the Today show in Sydney after just four months in the role.

‘It was a hard decision, but I thought it was the right decision at the time,’ she said 

Her decision to be closer to her family, particularly her elderly parents, was made just before the Western Australia’s borders were shut last week.

Her 64-year-old father, Tai, whom she affectionately calls ‘Pa Vo’, suffers from Morvan Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease.

While Tracy is happy to be closer to family, she does miss the Today show team. 

‘I really miss the Today show guys and it was just a family decision, purely a family decision,’ she said. 

Tracey added that her colleagues were supportive of her decision and that she was looking forward to eventually reuniting with them.  

As of Friday afternoon, there are 6,193 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Australia, including 54 deaths.
